It was my birthday last week! 41 years since my little soul found her way into this world. And what a journey she has had. 41 cycles around the sun, 14,965 days on earth.

Here’s what I’ve learnt:
1. I’m still figuring out what I want to do when I ‘grow up’. And that’s okay. It’s okay not to have a clearly defined path of where you’re going. Goals, dreams, passions change and evolve all the time, they shouldn’t be rigid. It doesn’t make you fickle or a failure, its part of the magic and unfolding of who you are and who you are becoming. Never stop ‘growing up’.

2. Life can be exquisitely painful. And that’s okay. No one escapes it and we experience more of it than we dare to admit to people. It’s not a reflection of us, or given to us because we deserve it. It’s what makes our life rich if we can grow from it and become better because of it. So never judge or pity a person in pain, because it may be the key to their transformation and success.

3. Life can be messy and confusing. And that’s okay. Although I had my life mapped out when I was young (according to society’s ideals), it hasn’t quite worked out that way. There have been lots of twists and turns. I’ve had to find beauty in the chaos, I’ve had to search for hidden treasures in the mess and I’ve had to find clarity in the confusion. And I’m proud of myself for this. So should you be.

4. We’re all searching for the same thing. No matter our race, colour or religion, we all want love, freedom and happiness. We seek out relationships, marriage, children to feel that connection and love. The job we want will lead us to feel happiness and fufillment. We chase money because we want freedom. You and I may seem like very different people, but underneath we are the same.

Please take time out to celebrate your life, all the good, not so good and the adventures that are to come! Honour your journey and be proud, even if you’re not where you want to be or thought you would be.
We only have so many cycles around the sun.
So much love, Jody xxx
